Objective

To manage and administer your company’s Sigmafine system, monitor the system's health, and take preventive and corrective actions as needed. In addition, you will learn to implement periodic upgrades and new releases and become familiar with support procedures.

During this class, you will learn about:

• Sigmafine architecture and software layers
• Basic operations principles
• Installation and the upgrade/patching process
• Disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies and options for the following:
  • Sigmafine application server
  • SQL Server database
• Import/export utilities for backup and restore for SQL Server, graphical displays, etc.
• Porting procedures between staging and production environments
• Configuration management:
  • Library elements: database, elements, templates, and tables
  • Analysis elements: models, analysis, and cases
  • Bulk configuration options using Excel Add-in and XML files
  • Security administration
• System and database maintenance tasks and schedules
  • System health check and monitoring
  • Logs review
  • Performance indicators
  • SQL Server database management and truncation
  • Rebuilding Sigmafine database indexes

Prerequisites

• IT-related experience and familiarity with the administrative rights for your company’s IT infrastructure

To become familiar with the Sigmafine data schema in order to use SQL reporting tools to create reports from Sigmafine data. These reports are typically used for enterprise-wide publishing and distribution.

• How the Sigmafine relational database is structured
• Understanding the relationship between tables and data and identifying the correct tables to store certain information
• How to build procedures and functions to present Sigmafine data efficiently

Objective

To learn how to use the Sigmafine application called IMM (Intelligent Movement Management) for tracking material movements, and monitoring inventories and attributes (qualities, properties, etc.).

Audience

Planning and scheduling staff responsible for tracking, analyzing and reporting inventories, shipments and receipts at their sites in order to improve material movement operations.

Outline

During this class you will learn about:

• Using IMM to declare, modify and change the status of material movements throughout their life cycles
• Defining routing paths for material movements
• Calculating reconciled material movement quantities using the transfer calculation extension
• Using IMM to manage inventories, change their status and attributes, and retrieve tank details and trends
• Using the tank monitoring extension to verify the consistency status of material inventories and movements
• Configuring analyzers and using the tank qualities extension to estimate material qualities in a tank
• Configuring security policies for IMM users
• Using the recalculate function of IMM to rerun previous cases

Audience

Sigmafine users responsible for creating and maintaining models in order to expand the scope of a Sigmafine model or create new ones.

During this class you will learn about:

• Using a standard library to create a Database
• Creating/deleting elements in the Database
• Adding/removing elements and connections from the model
• Configuring attributes of templates/elements
• Using PI Builder to create elements/connections and modify configurations in bulk
• Working with model displays (labels, icons, etc.)
• Using the client tools required to build models: Sigmafine Modeler Add-In, PI System Explorer, and PI Builder
• Best practices for the model building process

To develop the skills required to effectively use the Sigmafine Thermodynamic Package extension and run energy balances.

Audience

Users with consolidated Sigmafine experience who have knowledge of thermodynamics calculations and energy balance.

• Configuring and using the Sigmafine Thermodynamic Package extension to develop advanced thermodynamic calculations
• Configuring and running Energy Balance analysis
• Best practices to analyze Sigmafine results

Prerequisites

• Since composition Tracking Analysis uses the Mass Balance results, it is mandatory that the users have attended before to the “Using Sigmafine class” (SF-SERV-TR-USE – 2 Days)
